Selling Something Online? Here Are 3 Tips

The year is 2022, and business has gone digital.

Don’t worry, though. Not all business!

A lot of business, though.

There’s absolutely no mistaking the rapid and consistent rise of the online business world over the past decade. Nowadays, you can pretty much find anything online and get it delivered from anywhere.

The increasingly globalised world that we live in has made goods and services from every corner of the planet available to anyone, at any time, at just the click of a button.

It’s no surprise, as the online marketplace continues to grow and flourish, that more and more businesses are choosing to focus their time and efforts on building great websites and online stores to take their proverbial talents to the digital space.

This might describe where you’re at currently as a business owner or big-thinker.

If you find yourself ready to step into the thriving world of online business, there’s a little more to it than just having a pretty website.

Much like the business practices of old, there are still various techniques and skills that can be utilised for this new market. Just because your shop might only be online doesn’t necessarily mean you don’t need customer service skills, for example.

With that in mind, let’s look at three simple tips that you can integrate into your online business and hopefully use to take it from strength to strength.

Price Well

This seems like a no-brainer, right?

Wrong.

While, in theory, this is a simple enough concept to understand, most online businesses get this wrong, not because of their greed or ridiculous expectations, but simply because there’s been no forethought when putting prices together.

For your online shop to thrive, you must be intentional and put your thinking cap on. You need to come up with competitive and fair pricing that doesn’t totally scare potential customers away at first glance.

By all means, cover your overheads and make sure you’re earning a decent profit, BUT be sure to keep your customers in mind throughout. You definitely do NOT want to make a loss to gain more customers, but you also don’t want to be so exuberantly priced that you end up with zero customers.

Advertise in the Right Place

This means KNOW YOUR TARGET MARKET! We can’t really stress this enough.

As a digital marketing agency, we’ve become oh-so-familiar with the vast importance of businesses knowing who their target audiences are, and we think it’s pretty much up there with the most important things to know as a business owner/entrepreneur.

It’s simple. If you know WHO you want to attract to purchase your goods, you’ll know WHERE to put yourself in order for them to see your business and what you’re offering.

Have a Strategy to Manage Leads & Enquiries Well

Once you have mastered the above practices well enough, you’ll probably begin to see an influx of new enquiries and website visitors. That’s a great thing… if you know how you’re going to manage this significant influx.

There’s literally no point in getting more website traffic and enquiries if you don’t have a solid system in place to manage them well. All the hard work of putting your business out there can be undone if you can’t close leads efficiently or stay on top of your enquiries.

That’s why you should be considering how best to take advantage of consumer interest so as not to lose it!

Have a strategy meeting with your team, assign someone to man the customer query pool, or do it yourself. Do whatever it takes to optimise your growth.
