4 Social Media Tips for 2021 and beyond!

Gone are the days of printing flyers to increase awareness of your business. We live in a society where people spend more time on social media with an average of 145 minutes, then they do on their daily commute, which is on average 35 minutes.  This means it’s vital for your business to be on at least 1 social media platform.  Here are some tips to succeed in this dense, competitive landscape.

Choose your focus

While it may be tempting to “maximize” your reach by posting to every platform. This might not be worth your time, as ever platform has their own way of operating to ensure success. So rather than trying to learn multiple skills at once, find out where your target audience spends most of their time, and dial down on that platform.

Some platforms might make suite your business strengths more than other would. For example, photographer might do better on Instagram rather than YouTube. While filmmakers might find the inverse to be true.

Know your target audience

This ties in with the first point, in order to succeed, meet your “tribe” where they are at. This is important because, knowing who you are posting for, makes it way easier to generate appropriate content that will resonate with people you are trying to attract.

Be aware of trends

It might be the best idea to hop on trends just for the sake of it. Although, being aware what style of music is currently doing the best for platforms such as TikTok, or what hashtags are trending for Twitter, allows you to interpret the trends into a manner that is appropriate you’re your profiles niche. Who knows, maybe there is a trend that fits your niche perfectly!

Keep an eye on your analytics

If you are trying to develop a content strategy, you should be aware of what is working and what might not be doing as well as you anticipated. This is the only way to truly fine tune your approach for your profile.

Bonus tip: Invest in video content

On the majority of platforms, video content gets way more reach and engagement than any other type of content.  This is obvious on platforms such as TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, but on Twitter, a tweet is 6x more likely to be retweeted with a video attached. Video Views on Facebook has increase by 258% over the last 3 years.

Social media is an opportunity like no other generation has seen. Never before has getting so many eyes on piece of content been as easy assessable as it is today! Make sure to maximize it while you still can!
